Michael G. Sawyer August 8, 1961 January 16, 2012 Augusta - Michael G. Sawyer, 50, formerly of Portland, died on January 16, 2012 at his home. He was born in Portland, the son of Gordon Sawyer and Patricia (Lynch) Paiement and attended Portland Schools. Michael spent his younger years in Portland prior to moving to Augusta. Michael always loved being with his family. He was with them on every occasion he could make. Michael loved his brother Mark and spent a great deal of time with him over the years, as well as his father. Michael was a very compassionate and thoughtful person who was liked by everyone he met. He enjoyed many sports, especially football, baseball and basketball and loved watching the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. Michael touched the hearts of everyone he came in contact with, especially his family. In addition to his parents, Patricia and Gordon, he is also survived by his grandmother, Yvonne Lynch, his step-father, Dick Paiement, his brother Mark Sawyer and his wife Tammy, his step-brother and sister, Mike and Debbie Paiement. He is also survived by his niece, McKenzie and aunts and uncles Lucille and James Leeny, Conrad, Vaugn, Dougie and Dana. The family would like to thank Linda Thurlow of the Department of Human Services in Augusta and Motivational Services, Inc. for all the help she and her staff gave to Mike over the years. Visiting hours will be held at Independent Death Care of Maine, 660 Brighton Avenue in Portland on Friday, January 20 from 4 - 8 pm. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Saturday the 21st at 9am, with interment immediately following at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
