Maurice A. (Bucky) Erickson, Sr., 96, of Portland, Maine, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was born in Waterville, Maine on September 2,1927, the son of Albert and Florence Erickson. Bucky attended schools in Waterville and Portland, Maine. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from that US Postal Service in 1986 after 30 years. He served as President of Local #27 of the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Employees for 16 years and in 1975, he was promoted to a supervisor position until his retirement. He was a member of the Triangle Lodge #1, A.F. and A.M. Mount Sinia Greenleaf Chapter #13, R.A.M. Scottish Rite Valley of Portland St. Commandery # 8, Kora Temple, Kora Shriners of Lewiston, Maine, Kora Shriners Cycle Corps - Lake Region Shrine Club, American Legion Post #0002 in Wauchula, Florida. Bucky was predeceased by his wife Nancy L. Erickson on April 11, 2003; three brothers and two sisters; and his son-in-law in 2019. Bucky loved to go camping, hunting, fishing, and he also loved to garden. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Wyrzykowski of Ashland, Maine; his son Maurice A. Erickson, Jr. of Maine; and three grandchildren Katie and Chad of Florida and Chris of Massachusetts; his sister Mildred Churchill of California; and many nieces and nephews. Services will all be held at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. Visiting hours will be held from 5-7pm Thursday, May 30, 2024 and Funeral Service will be Friday at 10 am.
