Maureen A Kilgallen,  1938- 2023 Maureen Kilgallen, age 84 of Portland, Maine.  Formerly of Pine Knoll Shores N.C. for over 20 years until recently moved to an assisted living facility to be nearer to family.  She died of complications from Covid-19 on February 16th.  She was born in Philadelphia in 1938 but lived many of her years in the Boston area and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital as a medical secretary until she and her husband retired to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2000.  They enjoyed their life at the beach and befriended many people while walking their Irish terrier dog all around the area. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Walter Kilgallen who died in 2019.   She is survived by her brother Henry Bannen who resides in Tennessee, as well as nieces and nephews in various parts of the US. Arrangements are under the care of A.T. Hutchins funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue in Portland, Maine. Services will be private at a later date in 2023. Memorial contributions in Maureen's memory may be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland 217 Landing Road, Westbrook, Maine 04092, or your local animal shelter.
