Mary Victory Cantwell aka "Dixie" passed away peacefully November 11, 2024, she was born Sept 4, 1922, in Norfolk Virginia to William and Omar James. She attended Williamsburg High School and later moved to New York where she took Post Graduate courses at Nyack High School. There she met the love of her life, Eugene "Butch" Cantwell. They were married May 21, 1944 at the Greenbush Presbyterian Church in Blauvelt, N.Y. They remained there for the better part of the Seventy years in a home they built on Western Highway. Mary enjoyed gardening, golf, Traveling and old black and white movies. She worked at Dexter Press and later as owners at Blauvelt Wine & Liquor with her husband. Mary was predeceased by her parents and beloved sister Arlee, and her husband of almost 70 years. She is survived by her son, Randy and his wife Gerry of South Portland Maine, beloved grandchildren, Matthew Cantwell and wife Sarah; of Frederick MD, Granddaughter Heather Cantwell Finocchio and husband Anthony; of Falmouth MA, and greatgrandchildren; Nicole and Kyle Cantwell of Thurmont, MD and nieces, nephews and friends. Her daughter-in-law Gerry is Native American and, in her language, there is no word for good-bye. Rather it translates too until we meet again or see you later "Nmu'ltes ap" Mom.
