Obituary

Mary C. Jordan May 5, 1927 November 22, 2015 Portland Mary C. Jordan of Portland passed peacefully on November 22, 2015 at her daughter's home in Poland. Mary was born May 5, 1927, in Portland, daughter of the late Paul and Leora (Stetson) Conroy. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1945. While raising her three children, she volunteered at the Longfellow School and St. Josephs Church before working for the City of Portland in the Assessor's Department, retiring as office manager in 1993. She enjoyed spending time with her family and, in her retirement years, was a volunteer knitter of baby sweater sets for Mercy Hospital. She was an incredible mother and grandmother. Mary was an avid Red Sox Fan. She always opened her home to friends in need. Her home and her heart was always a mecca to neighborhood children. Mary was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Portland. Mary is survived by her daughter Lynne and husband Glen Pomerleau of Poland, her son Roger Jordan and partner Sally Swasey of Windham, her son David and wife Maureen Jordan of Scarborough, her grandchildren Kelleryn Mary and Kyle Edward Jordan of Scarborough, her sister Helen LeFrancois of California, many nieces and nephews, and her special friend Irving Della Torre of Hollis. She was predeceased by her brothers Plaisted, Paul and Robert Conroy, her sister Joan LeFrancois and her grandson Kevin Pomerleau. She was also predeceased by her previous husband, Ralph Jordan Jr. in 2002. Her family would like to thank Dr Hayes, Dr Weisberg and everyone at New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough who treated her over the years, along with the staff of VNA Home Health Hospice, especially Judy, Kris and Pam, for their compassionate care and support during the past three months. To honor Mary's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St Josephs Church, 673 Stevens Avenue, Portland. Burial will follow in the family lot at Old Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Home Health Hospice, 50 Foden Road, South Portland, ME 04106. Donations will be greatly appreciated by Mary's family. Arrangements are by the A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, Portland.
