Mary Doris Bergson November 2, 1920 June 3, 2012 Falmouth - Mary Doris Scott Heath Bergson, 91, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Falmouth by the Sea with her family by her side two months after her beloved husband David E. Bergson Sr. Doris was born November 2,1920 in Edinburgh, Scotland to Mary Margaret McGinty of Donegal, Ireland and James Alexander Scott of Edinburgh. Both parents died in 1936. Doris joined the RAF in 1940 and was stationed at a fighter base in southern England and suffered daily from bombings during the Battle of Britain. She met and married Capt. Paul Heath of the United States before his 1st Division landed at Normandy. He re-turned to the States due to wounds in 1944. Doris was able to immigrate in 1946 and started a family in 1947 with the birth of Alan and the 1949 birth of Christopher. They were divorced in 1967. Doris remarried in 1970 to David E Bergson Sr. of Falmouth. They lived an active life filled with travel, skiing and tennis before finding their real passion, golf. They were longtime embers of Portland Country Club and The Meadows Golf Club in Sarasota, Fl . Her fierce loyalty to Britain had given way to her passion for politics as she finally became a citizen 1998 as she felt she needed to cast her first vote. Doris was employed by the New England Teachers Agency and UNUM until her and David's retirement. Doris is survived by sons Alan and wife Rhonda, Chris and wife Jean and her step children David Jr., Robert, Eugene and Claire Bergson, nine grand children and seven great grand children and sister Edna Milne of Edinburgh. Doris's family would like to thank the caring staff at Falmouth by the Sea for their affectionate care shown to both she and David through this difficult time.
