Marjorie L. (Mader) Burgio September 18, 1923 February 16, 2012 Marjorie Louise (Mader) Burgio, 88 of Portland, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Marjorie was born in Woods Harbor, Nova Scotia, and as a small child, moved to the United States with her family. She attended Boston schools and met her husband Frank J. Burgio, who predeceased her in 1977. Marjorie retired from Porteous, Mitchell & Brown Co. in 1991 when the store closed. Before her illness, she regularly attended worship services at the Stevens Avenue Congregational Church in Portland. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Beth Burgio of Portland; a brother, Wilfred Mader and his wife, Mary of Barrington, Nova Scotia; a sister, Barbara L. Shea of South Weymouth, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 2pm at the Stevens Avenue Congregational Church, Portland. Interment will be in the spring at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are by A.T. Hutchins, LLC - Independent Death Care of Maine, Portland.
