Gwartney, Marilyn Arline (Sanborn), age 90, formerly of Corona, CA passed peacefully April 24, 2020 of a stroke. She graduated Dorsey H.S. in Los Angeles and studied Early Childhood Development at Los Angeles City College. Marilyn loved music, singing with Orange County Master Chorale, Riverside Master Chorale, and church choirs. She also enjoyed the Genealogical Society of Riverside, camping at Cedar Lake in Big Bear, CA, and swimming at the YMCA. She taught preschool and was a homemaker. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert "Bob" Gwartney, and parents George and Norita (Irwin) Sanborn. She is survived by four children, Patricia Gwartney (George) of Eugene, OR,Frederick Gwartney (Joyce) of Big Bear, CA, Janet Farrington (Bond) of Gray, ME, Laurine Rich (Steve) of Corona, CA, by siblings Robert Sanborn and Donna Armbruster, and by 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 9 step-grandchildren.  While Marilyn lived for 85 years in southern California, she spent her last 5 years in Gray, ME with Janet's family and later at Seaside Rehabilitation Center in Portland, ME, where she found new happiness. Her family is grateful to Seaside Rehabilitation Center and Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their care. Marilyn thanked God for having a wonderful life. A celebration of life will be announced.
