Marie Claire Zeegers August 25, 1925 March 30, 2014 FREEPORT - Marie "Claire" Zeegers, 88, passed away on March 30, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones at Hawthorne House in Freeport. Claire was born on Aug. 25, 1925, in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Seraphin and Marie (Lambert) Lamy. Claire and her sisters loved singing and preformed for soldiers during WWII. In 1942, Claire was a guest on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour after auditioning for Ted Mack at the Bushnell Auditorium in Hartford, Conn. Claire also loved playing the piano, completing puzzles, watching the birds that frequented her feeders, flowers, the Boston Red Sox and her beloved "Spotty." Claire was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Zeegers; her sisters, Rita Bevan and Irene Barry and brother, E. Raymond Lamy. She is survived by her sons, Robert Genthner of Jefferson, Fred Genthner and Valerie Cahoon of Windham, David and Doreen Genthner of Caribou and daughter, Theresa Smith and husband Jeffrey of Yarmouth; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lucille Lamy of Asheville, N.C.; a nephew and nieces. Visiting hours will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland.
