Marie K. O’Connor (Lyons)

Marie passed away peacefully at her daughter Jennifer’s home in Portland, Maine under the loving care of her husband John (Desi), Jennifer, Sean and Charlene and her sister Ethel. Marie was born May 11, 1940, in Boston, MA to her proud parents John E. Lyons and Katherine Lyons (Mahoney). Marie was one of three siblings. She was preceded in death by her older brother Paul and his wife Barbara (Feeney) and her brother-in-law Paul R. Fowkes. She is survived by her husband John D. (Desi) O’Connor, retired Boston Public School history teacher, daughter Jennifer and son Sean and wife Charlene and sister Ethel Fowkes.

Marie grew up on Belgrade Avenue in Roslindale and attended St. Francis Xavier elementary school at Sacred Heart Church. She attended Mission High School in Roxbury with her older brother Paul. Marie was a member of the Mission High Class in 1957. After high school Marie attended Boston Dental School. She later worked for Boston Edison Company and J. Baker National Shoe Company. At Mission High she met John D. (Desi) O’Connor. John and Marie married in 1963. Marie and Desi were married for 63 years. Marie leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of the celebration of life will be held at St. Susanna’s Church, Dedham MA on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 9:00am. Instead of flowers, please send a donation to Catholic Charities of Boston in Marie O’Connor’s name.
