Marie Elaine (Whitten) Martin

Marie Elaine Martin of Old Orchard passed away on December 30, 2025 at the age of 73.

She was born in Portland Maine on August 5, 1952. She was the daughter of Harry “Keith” and Anne Whitten. She was graduate of Portland High School Class of 1970. After high school she had a lengthy career in the banking industry, then went onto helping people with obtaining mortgages. She was well respected by all of her colleagues.

Marie had a love for the ocean. She lived to go to the beach and put her toes in the sand. She had a tremendous love for traveling especially with her best friend Valerie Smith. Her favorite trip she shall always talked about was going to Myrtle Beach with her daughters and granddaughter. She loved to read books, color, and compete puzzles and challenge everyone at trivia. She loved shopping with her daughters. She loved her family and friends with everything she was. She especially loved her great-grandson Levi and was over the moon about having another great-grandson on the way. She was so proud of her family and loved them more than anything!

She is survived by her daughters. Stacey Reilly and her husband Mark, Kathryn Martin and her partner Tim O’Donoghue. Grandchildren, Maddie Harrington and her fiancé Kobe Bureau, Zachary Harrington. Great-grandchildren, Levi and baby Bureau. Siblings, brothers Gregory Whitten, Bill Whitten and partner MaryEllen Burke, James Whitten, and Richard Whitten (deceased), sister Theresa and her husband Sonny Day also many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

A Celebration of Marie's life will be held March 14 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Deering Memorial Post 6858 located at 687 Forest Ave Portland Maine 04103.
