Marco Colello March 23,1936 June 1, 2016 Marco Colello March 23, 1936 - June 1, 2016 Portland - Marco Colello, passed away early morning on June 1st at St Joseph Manor, Portland, after his health had recently deteriorated. He celebrated is 80 birthday March 23rd at St Joe's, with many of his nieces nephews and brother his brother Sam, as well as several of the staff members. Marco was born into a large Italian family, the son of Leonardo and Angelina (Calabrese) Colello, who were immigrants from the small coastal town of Vieste, Italy, located on the Gargano Peninsula. Marco was born at the old Farrington hospital on Brighton Ave, along with his twin sister Josephine (Dolly). Marco taught himself to play guitar, to which he entertained family and friends and later played in small lounges and other venues. Marco had various jobs after attending local schools and finishing at Portland High, mostly working on the water front. After a time Marco found it necessary to live in several assisted living homes, the first at 7-Tree Manor in union, ME, where he was for 23 years, then Portland center for assisted living, where his health issues brought him to St Joe's until his passing. Marco along with his twin sister dolly were the ninth and tenth children of the family. He was pre deceased by sisters Michelina ""Mickey"" Boyle, Anna Mary ""Meady"" Sears, Emmanuela ""Emily"" Osborne, Josephine ""Dolly"" Sawyer and Concetta ""Tina"" Kosnow, and brothers' Gaetano ""Tony"" John and Matteo ""Matty"". Marco is survived by his sister Filomena ""Phil"" Chiaravelotti of Lewiston, and brother Salvatore ""Sam"" of Westbrook, as well as many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to his assisted living facilities, especially St Joseph's Manor during the last ten months. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, June 5th, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 6th, at 10 am at St Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal St. Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
