Portland- Youngest, of four, Lynn Shamblin, also known as, Rhonda Sutton passed away at home on Friday, November 17, 2017. She was adopted at age 18 after a life of multiple schools, moves, and family configurations. As an adult, she attended Job Corps in Vergennes, VT and Crossroads for Women in Westbrook, ME. She attained sobriety, lost it, fought for it, and attained it again. She fought PTSD, Bipolar disorder, COPD, Diabetes, and congenital heart failure. She eventually lost. She loved her friends, and was loyal. She loved children She helped others. She spent holidays serving in soup kitchens She remembered living on the street. She loved to camp and fish. She loved Peaks Island where she spent part of her childhood. She loved her Dad Jack Sutton, and her brother Michael Zistl, who predeceased her in 1987. She was a rock of support for her adopted mom, Jean Ellison. She loved her dog Sadie. In the end, her multiple illnesses were too much. She suffered heart failure, had difficulty breathing and released her soul to the peace of God. This was her choice. She loved her family, her other mom Janet, and all her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews. She distanced herself from her biological family due to abuse issues. She loved being in her own space, which she created with amazing talent and other people's cast-offs. She will be missed by Amber and Zoe-by her mom's Jean and Jan-by her friends at Amistad and by many others. Thanks to her extensive treatment teams at Mercy Hospital, Maine Medical, VNA, Casco Bay Services, Susan Sloan Felix, and many others. Be at peace, Lynn-we love you. You are finally safe and free. A memorial service will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2pm at Amistad 66 State St. #2 Portland, Maine.
