Lynda Ann (Hayes) Mann April 24, 1949 August 22, 2012 Portland - Lynda Ann (Hayes) Mann passed away peacefully in Portland, Maine on August 22, 2012. She was diagnosed with a rare and highly aggressive form of ovarian cancer nearly five years ago. Lynda always maintained a positive outlook and said that rather than ""fighting cancer"" she was ""living with cancer"" and she proceeded to continue her favorite activities Daughter of the late John Edward Hayes, Jr. and the late Helen Cecelia (Callahan) Hayes, of Punta Gorda, Florida and Portland . Lynda was born in Portland on April 24, 1949 and was a resident of Maine most of her life. She attended schools in Portland and Buxton, Maine. She spent periods in Beverly, Massachusetts, Punta Gorda, Florida, Long Beach, California, and Copperas Cove, Texas. She and her husband also travelled through Nova Scotia and to Oahu, Hawaii. Lynda was an accomplished decorative artist who enjoyed attending and exhibiting her work at the many local craft shows. She was a member of Sea Strokes of Maine and the Society of Decorative Painters. She was also interested in geneaology and had done extensive research on her family roots and history. She loved drawing and sketching boats and harbor scenes. Lynda was gregarious and loved talking to everyone. One of her favorite places to go was Steve and Renée's Diner in Portland, where she and her husband regularly joined friends. They also loved ospreys, and for many years they observed the lives of the birds and their chicks. She enjoyed family reunions immensely. Lynda worked in several retail stores in the Portland area including Porteous, Toys Are Us and Northern Reflections. Lynda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Kirk Bragdon Mann of Portland; a son, Joel Hayes Mann of Portland: a daughter Rebecca Hayes (Mann) Pooler, her husband Joe Pooler and their daughters Sarah and Megan of Scarborough; a brother, Jack Hayes and his wife, Gwenn Hayes of Portland, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends scattered across the country. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 27, from 4 - 7 pm at A.T. Hutchins, LLC Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. A service conducted by the Rev. Bob Gustavson will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the funeral home. The service will be followed by interment in Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland.
