Linda Herrick Allen November 1, 1945 November 27, 2014 Linda Herrick Allen, 69, of Portland passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2014, from complications brought on by Alzheimer's disease. Linda was a devoted mother to her four sons and a loving wife to Dana, her husband of forty six years. The oldest of eight children, she was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 1, 1945, the daughter of Stanley and Sarah (Hobson) Herrick. She was a 1968 graduate of Waldoboro High School where she was elected senior class president. She attended Maine Medical Center's School of Nursing graduating in 1967. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph's College in 2005. Linda worked as a highly regarded nurse at Maine Medical Center for a number of years following her graduation from MMC School of Nursing. She worked in the Intensive Care Unit for ten years. For the last twenty years of her professional life, she worked as a school nurse in the Westbrook School System. While there she has a profoundly positive impact on students and staff alike. In all aspects of her life, she was truly an ""unsung hero."" Family and friends were her top priorities. Christmas was an especially joyous time for her. Linda was predeceased by her parents and her brother Christopher Herrick. She is survived by her husband Dana and her four sons: Christopher, Thomas, Peter, and Andrew; grandchildren Colin and Gabrielle Allen; her sisters Sarah Dorsey and her husband John, Constance Barr and her husband Peter, Priscilla DeBree and her husband Steve; Brothers Ted Herrick and his wife Charlotte; Charles Herrick and his wife Katrina, and Dennis Herrick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
