Leonard K. "Buz" Freeman, went to be with his wife Arlene after he passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, after a long illness. He died at home with his daughter Iris by his side. He was 91 years old. He was born on November 7th, 1932, to Leonard K. Freeman Sr. and Beatrice Olive Withee, in Rumford Maine. Leonard was brought up by his Grandparents in Windham, Maine. He graduated from Windham High School. Buz served in the Army Reserves for several years and was a Korean War Veteran. He achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5) He was married to his lovely and devoted wife, Arlene, for 66 years. They raised 4 children. Buz was a Salesman for most of his working career. He started selling cars with his father at Portland Motor Sales on Forest Avenue. And continued working with them when they relocated to Marginal Way. He worked with Nationwide selling Insurance. Buz sold Cory Coffee for many years, traveling all over Maine. He even tried his hand at Real Estate with Century 21 for a few years. After retiring at 70 years old, his wife told him to get a part time job, because he was driving her crazy staying at home. He worked for Forms Systems Company and sold business forms and checks and office supplies. His last job was with Rowe Ford Westbrook as Shuttle Driver. Working again with Wally Camp Sr. and Wally Camp Jr. where he had his first sales job many years before. He worked there for many years and loved working there. He finally retired at 87 years old. Buz received many awards and recognition for his hard work throughout his career. He won trips to Spain and Hawaii, and numerous gifts and prizes. Buz was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could tell stories about "the one that got away." He also went downhill and cross-country skiing with his family and rode motorcycles with his wife. They had matching motorcycles. He played racquetball for many years to stay in shape. He was predeceased by his wife Arlene in 2023. He is survived by his son Bruce W. Freeman and husband Dale Gruber, daughter Patricia A. Kitchen and husband Jamey, daughter Iris M. Freespirit and wife Kimberly, son Shawn L. Freeman and life partner Jo Simmonds: and three grandchildren, Ryan Kitchen and wife Chelsea, Shawna M. Maloney and fiancé Jeff Thompson, and Lee Kitchen. A private Family graveside service with Military Honors will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Buz's name to the Dempsey Center 788 Main St. So. Portland, ME. 04106
