Leola J. Morey

Leola J. Morey, 71, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at home. She was born February 15, 1947 in Portland, the daughter of Leo and Georgianna (Couillard) Theriault. She was raised in Portland, attending and graduating from Cathedral High School in 1967. After High School, she met the love of her life, Charlie Morey, and on June 19, 1971 they were married at the Deering Grange in Portland. Lee and Charlie had two boys, Christopher and Scott. Her boys meant the world to her, being a mother was one of her proudest accomplishments. Family and friends were also very important to her. She always enjoyed spending time with her own mother, even spending every Saturday night shopping. It was well known that she could shop all night as this was something she enjoyed very much. She was also known to be a great cook, using her mother's recipes to make wonderful dinners for family and friends. She was also a Volkswagen enthusiast and owned many over the years, her most current one was a Volkswagen Jetta. Lee was also very passionate about animals and her two cats Moxie and Milo who provided her great companionship. In her later years, she was a very proud grandmother to her granddaughter, Emma Grace, who always put a smile on Lee's face when she was around. Even though Lee only had the one granddaughter, she was very well liked by many of the children of her friends who would always enjoy visiting with her. She was always very concerned about others and always made sure everyone she knew was taken care of no matter what they may have needed. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by: her loving husband of 46 years, Charlie of South Portland; two sons, Scott and his partner, Hannah, and Christopher; brother, Reynold Theriault and his wife, Carol; granddaughter, Emma Grace; and close friends, Donna and James Stanhope. Visiting Hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue in Portland. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11:00am at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
