Lemont (Monty) Paul Gagne October 10, 1942 January 3, 2011 PORTLAND - Lemont (Monty) Paul Gagne, 69, of Scarborough, passed away, surrounded by his family on January 3, 2012, at Maine Medical Center. Lemont was born October 10, 1942, in Hartford, CT, son of Gerard and Muriel (Marcoux) Gagne. He grew up in Sanford and Biddeford. After graduating from St. Louis High School he attended Walsh College, Canton, OH, before enlisting in the Air Force. Lemont served his country as an Electronics Technician in Turkey and New Mexico, and also attended USAF Electronics Tech School in Biloxi, MS. After being honorably discharged from the service he went to work for Fairchild Semiconductor as a Computer Test Programmer and advanced to Software Engineering Project Manager. He initiated and led the development of the semi-automatic generation of test programs for integrated circuit testers which allowed him the opportunity to travel to company locations in Santa Clara, CA, Singapore and Malaysia for implementation. During his time at Fairchild he obtained his BS degree from Westbrook College which lead to his promotion to Production Control Analyst. After over 30 years at Fairchild, Lemont went to work for EM Solutions, as a New Product Introduction Manager and in 2001 he went to work at Hannaford, as a Production Analyst retiring in 2007. Upon retirement he pursued his interests in photography, travel, playing pool and spending quality time with his family. Lemont became an avid pool player, competing in multiple tournaments and made many friends at his favorite pool hall ""The Rack"". He spent many happy hours attending and photographing his grandchildren at sporting events, the beach and family celebrations. He also now had time to research and purchase the latest electronic ""toys"" and shared this passion with his siblings. Beginning in 2008 Lemont made an annual trip across the United States, stopping anywhere along the way that might interest him. He took thousands of incredible photos and loved to share them with anyone that showed an interest. He would send daily logs to family and friends detailing his events of the day including traffic tickets and roadkill count. Of the many places and parks he visited, he had a true love for the red rocks. Arches National Park was his favorite. His family hopes to have a memorial bench placed there in his name. Lemont is survived by his beloved daughter Carolyn Hoffman, her husband Eric and grandchildren, Alexa, Austin and Aidan of Falmouth, ME.
