Lawrence Eliot Bowie, Sr. April 28, 1966 September 28, 2016 Lawrence Eliot Bowie Sr., of Portland, passed away suddenly in Skowhegan on September 28, 2016. He was born April 28, 1966 in Portland to Larry E. and Ruth E. (Stoddard) Bowie. Larry was a very happy person and always had a smile on his face. He was known to his friends as ""Big La"" and ""Big Worm"". He was very kind and always willing to help. He enjoyed camping, mountain biking and going to the Beach Ridge Motor Speedway. Arm wrestling was another one of his passions, from which he had many trophies to prove his excellence. He was also a life member of the Sons of Amvets Post #25 in Portland. Larry was preceded in death by: his parents; sister Marjorie Bowie; and brother James Bowie. He is survived by: his son Lawrance Bowie Jr.; life-long partner of 34 years Kim Bowie; brother Steven Bowie; grandsons Brady Keefe and Logan Bowie; nieces Maria and Cassandra; nephews Brandon, Joseph, Cameron and James Jr.; special nephew Billy Young II; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Larry's life will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services with a reception to follow at the Amvets Post #25 (186 Washington Ave., Portland, ME 04101).
