Portland ME- Lawrence A. Blake, Jr of Portland, ME died on June 14, 2023. He was the son of Mabel (Marston) and Lawrence A. Blake Sr on May 29, 1928 in Ipswich, MA. He attended Perley High School in Georgetown, MA.  He lived in West Newbury, MA for over 30 years, in which he was an active member of the community and a Lieutenant in the West Newbury volunteer fire department. After 20 years of driving truck, he became a dispatcher and supervisor for Wings Express and Yellow Freight. He retired to Peaks Island, ME where he was, again, an active member of the community delivering meals on wheels, delivering library books and a member of the Lions Club. He was known for being the smiling guy to go to for any assistance no matter how small. He is predeceased by his oldest son Lawrence A. Blake III. He is survived by his wife of 73 years Joan (Chadwick), his daughter Janice and son Jonathan, as well as 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His great smile will be sorely missed. Private interment will be at a later date
