Laura A Baldwin May 8, 1952 June 20, 2016 Laura A. (Clement) Baldwin Portland - Laura A. Baldwin, 64, of Portland, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2016, after a long journey with multiple sclerosis and recent cancer diagnosis. She was born in Bar Harbor, Maine, the daughter of Maurice R. and Ruby (Brindle) Clement. Laura lived in Maine her entire life and raised two children with her husband, Richard. Like a true Mainer, she had a no-nonsense attitude, sharp wit and quick tongue. Although she lived with multiple sclerosis for decades, she persevered through all the challenges the disease brought and found joy in everyday life. She enjoyed online games and occasionally destroying the competition playing Words With Friends. It can be said, however, that her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandson, Tucker. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Baldwin, parents; and brother, Herbert J. Clement. She is survived by her son, Shawn M. Baldwin and his wife, Abagael; daughter, Lindsay E. Baldwin; and grandson, Tucker J. Baldwin. The family would like to thank the staff at Maine Medical Center and Pine Point Center for Health Care & Rehabilitation in Scarborough for the ongoing care Laura received over the years. They would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Brentwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Yarmouth and Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care for the outstanding care Laura received in her final days. A private service will be held and a private interment will follow at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Vernon Road in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National MS Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
