Khaleid Eric Butoto passed away on the morning of Wednesday February 16th, 2022, at his home in Westbrook, Maine. He was born on July 7th, 1986, in Bujumbura, Burundi. He is survived by his parents Rev Mutima Butoto Peter and Zera Nabujeyi; his big sisters Namugisha Byamungu, Pascasie Mutigerwa Senzara, younger sister Magnifique I Butoto, younger brother Joshua Butoto, 6 nephews & 4 nieces. Khaleid moved to Maine, in the United States with his family in February 1995. He attended Westbrook Middle School and spent a year at Westbrook High School before going oversees to Rwanda in 2003 where he competed high school at Green Hills Academy. After high school he moved back to Maine to study at the University. He obtained his B.S in computer science and electrical engineering at University of Maine in Orono. He held a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in California and was also accepted as a PHD candidate at Stanford University. Throughout his life, he managed to touch the lives of many; those young, old, and in between. His kindness, humble spirit, and light heartedness was truly something too special for this world. A funeral service and open casket will be held at 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 360 Canco Road Portland, Maine 04103. Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Avenue Portland, Maine 04103. Following the burial, we will have a life celebration of Khaleid at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Ave, Portland, Maine 04102. May his soul rest in Eternal Peace.
