Obituary

Kathleen Gerelyn Reilly, 51, of Portland Maine, died unexpectedly Saturday February 15 after a brief illness. Kathy was born March 16,1973 to William and Mary Reilly in Portland, Maine. Kathy grew up in the Deering Center neighborhood, attending St Joseph's Parish School and graduating from Deering High School. Kathy was a homemaker and staunch advocate for mental health wellness. She touched the lives of many with her compassion, love and laughter, taking every opportunity to offer her support to everyone she encountered. Kathy found love one fateful New Year's Eve, captivated by her darling Eben, the charm of her affection. Sweethearts thereafter for the next twenty one years, their love reaching outward to the moon and back again. They embarked on life's adventures full of hope, joy and wonder. Kathy treasured the blessings in her life, finding great joy as the youngest child of a family of eight. Her brothers and sisters are heroes held close to her heart and she often reminded them of the depths to her devotion: her definition of the greatest day being one shared with her siblings. Kathy cherished all of her family. Relatives near or far were always upon her mind. Friends were family to her as well. All kept daily in her thoughts and prayers until they met again. Kathy inspired many with her crafting endeavors, creating beauty within each item she fashioned. Her efforts shared with family, friends and strangers alike: destined to spread joy to every recipient. Kathy knew everyone residing in the Hundred Acre Woods. She was fast friends with Winnie the Pooh; Eeyore, Piglet, Owl, Rabbit and Tigger too. They all knew that a hug is always the right size. The Reilly family is grateful for the compassion and kindness extended from her caregivers over the years. Kathy often expressed her appreciation for all of their care and most notably for her friendship with Dr. Emily Vayda. May Kathy rest within God's warm embrace, with Our Lord and Savior and the love of family and friends who preceded her in this journey held close with all our love until we meet again. Her bright light remains in the hearts of all who know her. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Reilly, Mother at heart, Joyce Chadwick, brothers William Reilly III, Thomas Reilly and Kevin Reilly, and sisters Maureen Shea, Jane Reilly and Linda Garnett. Kathy is survived by her better half, Eben Chadwick, brothers Micheal Shea, David Reilly, Peter Reilly, Mark Reilly and his wife Stacey, Jonathan Henry and his wife Lisa and sister Martha Leland, Nephews Thomas Garnett, Timothy Shea, Joshua Reilly and Nathaniel Henry, Nieces Jes Kane, Marion Shea and her partner Jonathan Scott-Bennett and Brianna Henry, Great nieces Elyana Shea, Kaylee Garnett and Jenna Garnett and Great nephew Donivan Usher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday February 28, at St Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Avenue in Portland, Maine, with Father John Michalowski officiating. Immediately following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will take place at VFW Post 6859, 687 Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine.
