Obituary

SCARBOROUGH – Julia Tiffany (Potts) Rancourt, 57, died unexpectedly April 7, 2026, at home. She was born January 15, 1969, in Portland, the daughter of the late William T. and Carlla E. (Warnock) Potts.

Julia graduated from Deering High School, class of 1988. She followed her passion for helping people look their best by attending cosmetology school and going to work at a salon in the mall. She received advanced training at the Toni and Guy Academy in London, while working for Matthew John Salon. Eventually, she opened her own salon, Elite. Her passion for helping people shifted to the healthcare field and she continued her education, becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Certified Medication Technician. She worked for numerous facilities in the area, gaining friends and colleagues at The Viking Crescent House, Piper Shores, Avita of Stroudwater, The Enclave of Scarborough, and Scarborough Terrace. Her passion was working with memory care residents, whom she treated like adopted grandparents, making many wonderful connections. At The Viking, Julia met her soulmate, Duane, in 1998. They married on April 6, 2002, at Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. This year marked their 24th wedding anniversary. Julia had a deep love for animals, adopting many feathered and fur babies throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed enduring friendships with Katie, Monica, and her many online friends and family. Everywhere she went, Julia radiated warmth and kindness, touching many souls during her lifetime.

Julia is survived by her husband, Duane E. Rancourt, Jr., of Scarborough; brother-in-law Dana E. Rancourt and fiancée Devie Soletario Manlapus, of Scarborough; mother-in-law Donna R. Rancourt, of Scarborough; sister Kathleen F. Potts, of New York and fiancée Johannah E. Burdin, of Portland; as well as cousins Janet Coppola Walker, Susan Coppola and husband Kevin Montgomery, Bill Coppola and wife Pat, and Shane Coppola and wife Marcia. In addition to her parents, William T. and Carlla E. Potts, Julia was predeceased by her great-grandmother, Eleanor Julia Russell Watson Stewart Stockwell; grandmother, Gertrude Stewart Warnock; brother, Russell William Potts; and her father-in-law, Duane E. Rancourt, Sr. The family thanks the wonderful caregivers of Northern Light Mercy Hospital, Maine Health Maine Medical Center, and Hospice of Southern Maine for the loving care that Julia received.

Her Celebration of Life service will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church, 580 Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine, on May 2, 2026, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Peter Swarr officiating.
