Judith F. Amero Friend Rice, 72, of Westbrook passed away June 19, 2017 at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.  She was born December 15, 1944 in Portland, the daughter of William and Alice (Griffin) Amero.  She attended local schools and took great joy in raising her sons. Judith was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard P. Friend Jr. and his father Richard P. Friend Sr.  She is survived by:  her husband, Robert Rice of Westbrook; son, Daniel Friend of Portland; granddaughter, Heather Friend McLeese of Buxton; grandson, Joseph Friend and his wife Angela Cartwright Friend of Limerick; three great-grandchildren, Pierson, Jaxson, and Riley; mother-in-law, Alice Steele of Portland; sisters, Jean Pettingill of South Portland, Cecelia Huff and her husband Clinton of Oxford, and Carol Austin of Windham; brother, Stephen W. Amero and his wife Carol of Windham; step-sons, Robert Rice and his wife Maria of MA, Chris Rice and his wife Tina of South Portland, Jeff Rice of South Portland, Daniel Rice of South Portland, Ryan Rice of Buxton, and Randall Rice of Saco; sister-in-law, Bonnie Jensen; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00-6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
