Obituary

Joyce A. DePalmer December 12, 1942 November 10, 2012 Portland- Joyce A. DePalmer, 69, of Washington Avenue, passed away on November 10, 2012 at Maine Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Bar Harbor, a daughter of Wilfred and Norma (Stanley) Bunker. Joyce was raised on Cranberry Island where she attended schools. She graduated from Deer Isle High School and attended University of Southern Maine. In 1963, she married Paul DePalmer and began raising a family. Joyce loved bowling and belonged to several leagues. She and her friends would enjoy many days of bowling followed by lunch. She had many interests which included reading, puzzles, crocheting and fishing. An avid sports enthusiast, she was a Patriots and Celtics fan and enjoyed NASCAR. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her father of Trenton, ME; her husband of 49 years, Paul DePalmer of Portland; children, Anthony and his wife Gayle, Angela and Gene, Timothy, Christine and Samuel; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Kevin, Michael, Chelsea and Paul; sister, Maryanne Young; brother, David Bunker. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland, where a funeral will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 16, 2012. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
