Joseph "Joe" Paul Renna January 11, 1928 January 21, 2012 Portland - Joseph "Joe" Paul Renna, 84, died peacefully, with family by his side on Saturday, January 21, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Portland, the son of Rosario and Agrapinna (Amaru) Renna, on January 11, 1928. Joe served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, from 1941-1945. After leaving the Merchant Marines, he worked along the Portland Waterfront and became employed by his longtime friend at Harbor Fish Market and worked there for 25 years, retiring in 2001. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn (Hopkins) Renna, siblings Rose Walker, John Renna, Vincent Renna and Patricia Sanborn. He also leaves behind his four daughters, Tamara Coxe of Westbrook, Deborah Budroe and her partner Robert Grover of Windham, Rosalind Foster and her husband Gary of Westbrook, Laurie Renna of Portland as well as a grandson, John Foster, who was like a son to him. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Joe was also predeceased by a grandson, James Langley, Jr. A special thank you to his special granddaughter, Melinda, for her care of him during his final hours. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 4 - 6 pm at A.T. Hutchins, LLC - dba Independent Death Care of Maine, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
