Westbrook, ME- Joseph Jens Jensen, Sr.,85, of Westbrook, formerly of Gorham, went to dwell in the house of the Lord on October 16, 2026.
Joe was born in Westbrook at his family farm on Methodist Road on May 29, 1941 to Christian and Marjorie (Burrows) Jensen. He grew up with a passion for cars and could fix just about anything. He was a small engine and auto mechanic at a young age.
He married Gloria Hanscome on February 6, 1961. Together they raised their three sons in the White Rock section of Gorham where they resided for over 30 years before returning to Methodist Road to be closer to their boys. They loved having all their family living side by side and being close to their grandchildren each day.
Joe was employed at S.D. Warren for 40 years as a Maintenance Coordinator and Supervisor.
He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and Christian. He took very good care of his family. Joe was a hard worker, something his boys all followed in his footsteps.
Joe was predeceased by Gloria in 2009. He was blessed to find love again when he met Helen Young Jensen. They married on March 27, 2010. Joe and Helen took many adventurous trips which included driving across country and trips to New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Jamaica.
He loved discovering old vehicles along the side of the road. He visited museums with antiques cars and took numerous pictures of them to show everyone. He enjoyed bean suppers, and going to New Hampshire to just look at the mountains.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church of Gorham.
He is predeceased by his siblings Christian, Peter, Robert, and Margaret.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Jensen, who cared for him endlessly; his sons, Joseph Jr and wife Kathleen of Gorham. Kevin Sr. partner Theresa Goodwin of Westbrook, Todd and wife Judy of Gorham; daughters, Barbara Brown of Westbrook, and Brenda Bales of Morgantown, Indiana; grandchildren, Joseph Jensen III., Angela Byrnes, Kevin Jensen Jr., Abigail Jarochym and Adelia Jensen, and great grandchildren Addysen, Jacksen, Emersen, Riley, and Avery. "Bumpy " was a wonderful grandfather, he will be remembered by them for always putting up his Christmas tree before Halloween, all the pre-Thanksgiving turkey dinners they all shared, and his amazing biscuits.
Joe will be sadly missed by all, he was a gentle soul and always helped anyone in need.
A Celebration of Joe’s life will be at 11AM, Saturday, at Grace Bible Church, 74 Deering Road, in Gorham.
