Joseph R. Duclos October 2, 1930 December 19, 2013 PORTLAND - Joseph R. Duclos died quietly on December 19, 2013. He was born October 2, 1930 in St. Johnsbury, VT, the son of Eugene and Doris Duclos. Joe attended Deering High School. He entered the Navy in 1947 and was discharged in 1952 with the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer. He became Office Manager for Western Union and then married Nora Murphy on April 15, 1955, they had six children. In 1962 he started his business Tri Tank: Engineering and retired in 1995. Joe is predeceased by his parents, a son Jon, a brother Stephen and a sister Alice Pratt. Joe is survived by a brother Donald of Worcester, MA, sisters Rosalie Ketchun of Norway, Shirley Bibber of Gorham, and Pricilla Thomaszewicz of Florida, his son Robert and his wife Altana of Scarborough, his daughters Wanda Brissette and her husband Stephen of New Gloucester, Lynne Siulinski and her husband Dale of Saco; Wendy LeClair and her husband Thomas of Kent, WA and Donna Cole and her husband Leonard of Bennett, CO, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Joe was a member of the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS. As a life member of AMVETS Post 25 in Portland, he served as Chairman of the Trustees. In 1975, he was elected Commander for the AMVETS Department of Maine. He also served as National Executive Committeeman and in 2002 as AMVETS National 1st District Commander. Joe was currently serving as AMVETS National 1st District Judge Advocate. A Celebration of Joe's life will be Sunday, December 29, 2013. Visiting hours are 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. with Memorial Service conducted by AMVETS Post 25 with representation of the Navy Honor Guard at 2:30 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland. Burial will take place in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery.
