John William Ross October 9, 1942 December 25, 2013 Portland - John William Ross, 71 of Cumberland passed away on December 25, 2013 at the Maine Medical Center. He was born in Portland on October 9, 1942, a son of James Edward and Alice (Whitney) Ross. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School. John served in the Maine Army National Guard and owned his own business, John Ross Heating for many years. John was also a trustee of the Portland Eagles. John was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert Ross and sisters Barbara Ross Cohee and Louise Ross Richardson. He is survived by his wife Susan (Paquette) Ross, a son, John Ross, Jr. of Portland and Meghan Ross of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by his siblings; Elizabeth Ross Tebbetts of Laguna Hills, CA, Natalie Ross Scott of Buxton, Constance Ross Dayton of Livermore, CA, Carol Ross Mikkelsen of Portland, Lawrence Ross of Falmouth, Edward Ross of Falmouth and Peter Ross of Lakewood Ranch, FL as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws. A memorial mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00, with a reception to follow at the Church hall.
