John C. Hurley 85, passed away peacefully January 12,2018 at his  home in Portland, ME He was born November 20, 1932,in Portland,ME,  the son of Lewis G. and Jennie B. Hurley.  John was a graduate of Deering High School. He had been employed for many years at Fox Lumber in their cabinet shop.  John took great pride in his detailed wood working skills. John loved and owned several beautiful antique cars over the years. In his younger years his daily driver was a 1946 Chevy pickup truck, he even named his dog Chevi. John spent most of his leisure time at his camp on Beaver Pond in Denmark, ME, this was his favorite place to be.   In addition to his parents John was predeceased by his sister Ruth I. Anthoine and his dear friends Elizabeth Hurley. He is survived by three nephews; Stephen Anthoine, Robert Anthoine, and William Anthoine.   The family would like to give special thanks to his long term care  companions and wonderful friends Robert Linsky and Joseph Gallant.  We will always remember John for his love and respect for nature,  the wilderness and all animals especially his dogs. Box 336  Westbrook, ME 04098   Visiting hours will be Thursday January 18 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at  A.T Hutchins Funeral home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland.  Burial will take place in the spring in Denmark, ME
