John "Jack" Darling December 13, 1978 March 9, 2012 John ""Jack"" Darling died on March 9, 2012 at his home on East Kidder St. in Portland after struggling with a long illness. He was born on December 13,1978. A 1998 graduate of Portland High School, Jack was a self-employed salesman in the residential security business. Known for his charm and quick wit, Jack entertained family and friends with his humor and great storytelling abilities. He enjoyed golfing, camping and hiking, bowling, cooking, home remodeling and laughter with friends. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Darling-Kirby and step-father Steve Kirby, father John Darling and step-mother Lisa Darling. He is also survived by his brother Ben Kirby and cousin Julie Ryder with whom he was very close, brothers Matt and Ethan Kirby, Patrick and Michael Darling, sisters Victoria Smith and Laura Kirby, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Not having Jack with us is painful but knowing that he's at peace brings us comfort. A wake will be held on Tuesday, March 13th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at A.T. Hutchins, LLC Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave. in Portland with a Service to be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 11:00 am at St. Pius Church, 492 Ocean Avenue in Portland.
