John E. Caminiti July 21, 1927 November 14, 2012 Augusta - John Edward Caminiti, 85, of Belgrade and formerly of Portland passed away early Wednesday morning, November 14, 2012. He was born in Portland on July 21, 1927, the son of Joseph and Angelina (Pratico) Caminiti. He grew up in Portland, graduating from Deering High School in 1945. John was a graduate of the University of Maine, class of 1951. He was a member of Phi Mu Delta at UMO. On August 18, 1956 he married Myrna (Pray) and together they raised three daughters. This past August, John and Myrna celebrated their 56th anniversary. John worked for a time for his father before becoming self-employed in tile installation. John had a great sense of humor and loved being at the lake. He was the happiest spending time with family and friends. John loved watching golf, college football, especially the University of Maine when he had the chance and Penn State as well as the New England Patriots. He was also a past parishioner of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Italian Heritage Center. John was predeceased by his parents and brothers Michael and Joseph. He is survived by his wife, Myrna, their daughters Cynthia Solari and her husband Peter, Janice Caminiti and Judith Caminiti and their grandson Thomas Collier. He is also survived by his sisters, Grace Thomas, Virginia Shaw and Eleanor Small as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 3 - 7 pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 673 Stevens Ave, Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
