Joanne "Betsy" Griffin November 18, 1948 December 23, 2016 Joanne ""Betsy"" Griffin passed away December 23, 2016. Joanne was born November 18, 1948 in Gray to William and Barbara (Carr) Caswell. Betsy graduated from Scarborough High School. She then went to work at the Holiday Inn in Portland, Portland News, and at Springbrook before she retired in 2008. Betsy married Steve Griffin on November 20, 1976 in Portland. She had many friends and was a very social person. She enjoyed playing games, especially Scrabble, watching TV and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Lovell for many years. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Barbara Caswell; husband, Steve Griffin; sister, Barbara Pennell; sister, Wilma Thompson; sister, Mary Caswell; brother, William Caswell, Jr.; and sister, Nancy Hedrick. She is survived by: her sister, Susan Foss of Scarborough; brother, Peter Caswell of Raymond; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne's name to the Fryeburg-Lovell Memorial VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Smarts Hill Rd., Lovell, ME 04051. A private family burial service will take place at a later date.
