James E. Leighton July 22, 1946 April 28, 2016 Portland James E. Leighton, 69, born July 22, 1946 to Chester L. and Glenys A. (Jones) Leighton passed away on April 28, 2016. James attended school in the Portland area and worked for many years at M. Silver and Son Scrap Metal Yard and later for Portland Housing Authority until becoming disabled. James is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Gail (Southard) Leighton of Portland, a daughter, Marjorie (Charles) Wildes of South Portland and a son, John (Karen D'Andrea) Leighton of Biddeford, a granddaughter, Lindsey (Christopher) Harris and great grandchildren, Christopher, Alannah and Avery Harris all of Portsmouth, Virginia. He is also survived by brothers, Norman Leighton of Westbrook, Charles Leighton of Portland and by sisters, Glenys Loiselle of New Hampshire, Nancy Brown of New Gloucester, ME, and several nieces, nephews and many many friends. James was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Chester and Benjamin and sisters, Shirley Jones and Evelyn Kaelber. A celebration of life will be held at the Franklin Towers, 211 Cumberland Avenue, Portland on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM.
