James Lewis Kennedy, Sr. November 16, 1936 October 29, 2013 South Portland - James Lewis Kennedy, Sr. , 76, of South Portland, passed away at home on October 29, 2013. He was born in Portland on November 16, 1936, the son of Lewis and Dorothy (Webster) Kennedy. Jim retired from serving in the United States Navy after 20 years. After leaving the Navy, he went back to school, earning his bachelor's degree from Westbrook College. He then worked at Fairchild Semiconductor until his second retirement. Jim was a lifelong die-hard Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins fan. He even got to watch some of the Red Sox playoff and World Series games this October. Jim also loved fishing for fresh water Bass with his family. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Walsh) Kennedy, their four sons; James Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Tennessee, Marc Kennedy and his wife Rhonda of California, Matthew Kennedy of Florida and Kirk Kennedy of South Portland. He is also survived by their nine grandchildren; Patrick, Daniel, Marc, Jr., Josh, Sarah, Benjamin, Kiley, Colby and Eric James and two great-grandchildren; Jaden and Madison. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 2 from 12 - 2pm, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 2pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland.
