James W. Boynton, Sr. May 31, 1925 July 19, 2012 South Portland- James W. Boynton, Sr., 87, of Latham Street, died at his residence on July 19, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born in Pittston, ME, a son of Eben and Alice (James) Boynton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he served in the European and Asiatic Pacific Theaters. He worked at Cushman's Bakery, First National Bakery and most recently at Cape Elizabeth Schools before retiring in 1990. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, home improvements and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Edith (Williamson) Boynton in 2009. He is survived by his children, James Boynton, Jr. of Westbrook, Arlene Boynton of Shreveport, LA, Glynda Boynton of Portland, Patti and Tom Lambert of Buxton, Deborah J. Boynton of South Portland and Diane and Terri Marriott of Sanford; sister, Goldie Cunningham. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A memorial visiting hour will be held from 10-11 am on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland, where a memorial service will follow at 11 am.
