Jacquelin Edna "Jackie" Menchen (Clark) – Portland Jackie Menchen, 84, died unexpectedly at her home in the early morning hours of January 20, 2025. Born on November 11, 1940 the daughter of John A. and Marquerite I. (Allen) Clark, Jackie attended Deering High School in Portland Maine, and graduated with the Class of 1959. She attended Barrington College before moving on to complete her training at the Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston, graduating in 1967. After meeting on a blind date, Jackie and her beloved husband Michael were married on August 17, 1974 and recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2024. Jackie retired from Mercy Hospital on State Street in Portland after 52 years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of the Community of Grace Church located in Westbrook and supporter of the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine. Jackie loved and cared for her family and extended family – all of them. She loved children, the Red Sox, word puzzles, a warm flannel shirt, ice cream and Russel Stover chocolates. Jackie will always be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit and compassion for others and will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Priscilla Powers and Carolyn Andrews and her grand-nephew Robert Sambursky. She is survived by her husband Michael, her daughter Rebecca Roy and her husband Robert of Scarborough, her son Matthew and his wife Katie of Portsmouth NH, her beloved grand-daughters Elizabeth and Marah as well as multiple nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephew and cousins. Visiting hours are on Friday, January 31st from 5-7 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland Maine 04102. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, February 1st at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to: Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine, 431 Campground Rd, Livermore Falls Maine 04254. She is now with her Savior Jesus Christ and she is having a beautiful day.
