Ilene M Wilkes August 24, 1934 October 19, 2016 Ilene M Wilkes - 82, of South Portland, passed away Wednesday October 19, 2016 in her beloved house. Ilene was born on August 24, 1934 in Waterbury Connecticut the daughter of Donald and Avis (Flag) McDonald. On June 25, 1954 she Married Albert Wilkes Sr. Ilene worked for 27 years at Fairchild Semiconductor as a Quality Control manager. After her retirement she and Albert traveled coast to coast in an RV, going to his Navy reunion. They also loved to go to Branson Missouri for the country acts. During the last few years she took care of Al as he was having trouble with his health. During this period of 24/7 care they spent their afternoons at Bug Light Park, feeding the seagulls. Ilene is survived by her three sons Scott Wilkes; Albert Wilkes Jr. and his wife Margaret; Stephen ""Steve"" Wilkes, and his significant other Jayne; two grandchildren Tanya and Shane Wilkes and his soon to be son; and extended grandchildren Lauren, Riley, and Tyler; two brothers Jack and Robert and their families She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Albert Wilkes Sr.; her parents Donald and Avis; sisters Jean and Peggy; and brothers Tom and Don; as well as in-laws Dorothy and Warren Wilkes, and Barbara and Charles Raymond and family. We were very blessed with her love and positive spirit. And will cherish the love she shared. She adored her grandchildren tremendously and was looking forward to her first great grandson from Shane and Amy. We love you Nana (Mom) and will never forget all you have done. Graveside services will be held Tuesday October 25, 2016 at 12 PM at Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, and a celebration of life will take place later in the day from 4 to 7 pm at the VFW hall 50 Peary Terrace, South Portland.
