Gloria M. Hannigan March 9, 1925 June 20, 2015 Gloria M. Hannigan, 90, of E. Commonwealth Dr., Portland, died Saturday June 20, 2015 with her family by her side. Born in Norwalk, Ct., she is a daughter of William and Margaret Healey Smith. She grew up on Ray Street and graduated from Deering High School. While at Deering she played Basketball. Gloria enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers, spending time at the ocean, trips to Kettle Cove and the Eastern Promenade. She was an avid reader and Boston Red Sox fan. Gloria traveled to Ireland with her sister and daughter to visit the family homestead. Gloria was predeceased by her husband William J. Hannigan in 1998 and her grandson William J. Hannigan, III in 2012. She is survived by her children, Joseph P. Hannigan, William J. Hannigan both of Portland and Pinky Hannigan of Standish. Her brother William W. Smith of Texas and a sister Sr. Ann Claire Smith of Minnesota. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James and Jill Hannigan of Portland, Alyx Hannigan of Portland, Justin Hayden of Buxton and Kari McElroy of Litchfield and great grandchildren Devon McElroy of Litchfield, Josh McElroy of North Carolina, Madelyn and Katherine Hayden of Buxton. Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Burial will be private.
