Westbrook- Gilbert Henry Shaw, 65, died on June 17, 2017 at Springbrook Center, Westbrook. He was born on January 15, 1952 in Lynn, Massachusetts, the fourth of five children of the late Robert James Shaw and Helen Virginia Shaw (Brennan). He grew up in Massachusetts, Virginia, Brazil, and Maine. He graduated from Lynn English High School in 1970. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic. Gil was known for his quick wit and gentle nature. He enjoyed making people laugh. He had a passion for the outdoors - hiking, fishing, camping, skiing - embarking on adventures with friends and family members. Gil also enjoyed the solace of his home in Detroit, Maine and spending time with his beloved cats. He is survived by his sisters Margaret Shaw of Seattle, Washington, Roberta Randall of Westbrook, Maine, Susan Lane of Sun City Center, Florida, brother Michael Shaw of Pelham, New Hampshire, brothers-in-law Michael Lane and John Myatt, sister-in-law Karen Shaw, seven nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Irish Hill at Springbrook Center for their outstanding care and support this past year.' A private family service will be held at a later date.
