Geraldine "Gerry" L. Strout November 16, 1924 July 8, 2014 Geraldine ""Gerry"" L. Strout, 89, passed away on July 8, 2014, at the Gosnell House Hospice in Scarborough. Gerry was born in Portland, ME November 16, 1924, the daughter of Prescott and Evelyn Walton. She grew up in So. Portland, graduating from So Portland High School in 1942. Following graduation, she was employed by the government in the U S Navy Dept., when they had an office on the Maine State Pier on Commercial St. She later worked in the office of the City of So. Portland, the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co., as a Service Representative. From there she was employed by the Portland Pipe Line Corp. as a secretary in the Engineering Dept. In 1953, she married Wayne B. Strout, who also worked for the Portland Pipe Line. He predeceased her in 2007. They lived in Bethel, ME for four years while Wayne was stationed at the Shelburne, NH station and the Waterford, ME station. They made many lasting friends there and returned to So. Portland in 1960. Shortly after, they built their house in Scarborough. After raising three daughters, Gerry returned to work at the Scarborough Town Office in the Tax. Dept. Wayne, Gerry and family enjoyed many trips to the hunting camp in Albany, ME. She also enjoyed skiing, musical shows, gardening, reading and knitting, and did the crossword puzzle and Cryptoquip in the daily newspaper up until a few weeks before she died. Gerry also volunteered for the Scarborough Community Health Services for many years. She is survived by her three daughters, Gail Vultee of Westbrook, ME, Nancy Beaver and her husband C. Robert Beaver of Fayetteville, NC, and Carol Strout and her companion, Tony Baltas of Scarborough, ME. She is also survived by a sister, Elaine Walton of So. Portland, ME. Honoring her request, there will be no public services. A private interment will be held for family members in the Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough. Arrangements are being handled by A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, Portland, ME.
