George H. Storck February 12, 2015 George H. Storck, 84, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean K. (Tarnay) Storck; his son, David Storck; his daughter, Susan (Storck) DuBois; his granddaughter, Madeleine Storck; his sister, Molly Storck; his nephew, John Storck Maddox; his niece, Rebecca Fox; his son-in-law, Doug DuBois; and his daughter-in-law, Averie Storck. Mr. Storck was born in Plattsburgh, New York on October 11, 1930, the son of Louis and Jean (McCracken) Storck. He was raised on Army posts around the country before the family settled in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, where he was a star athlete at Swarthmore High School. He went on to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, as did both his father and brother. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Storck completed a graduate degree in physical education from Columbia University and began a career in college athletics. As head football coach at Franklin & Marshall College, he led the team to an undefeated championship season in 1964. He later returned to West Point where he coached football and track, and served as Associate Athletic Director. He finished his career at the College of William & Mary. He spent most of his retirement in Maine, splitting time between Saco and North Pond. Mr. Storck spent his final years at the Maine Veterans' Home of Scarborough. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to everyone at the Maine Veterans' Home for their comfort, care and dedication. Mr. Storck is remembered by his family, his friends, and the countless student athletes whose lives he affected. A memorial service will be scheduled for the spring.
