Gaston A. "Gus" Labreche March 31, 1934 May 13, 2013 Portland, ME - Gaston A. ""Gus"" Labreche, 79, of Portland, passed away at Maine Medical Center on May 13, 2013, surrounded by his family. Born in Rimouski, Quebec, Canada on March 31, 1934, Gus was the son of the late Philip and Therese Labreche. Gus was raised in Laval, Quebec, just outside of Montreal. He graduated from McGill University and also completed several years of medical school at the University of Ottowa. He married the love of his life, Monique Yvonne Labreche on July 19, 1963. They moved to the United States the following year where they raised three daughters. He pursued a career as a pharmaceutical representative for USV Pharmaceuticals. Gus was an avid golfer and was a member at Riverside Golf Course for many years. He also loved to play pool and chess, both of which he excelled at. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially golf. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was a devoted husband and father. Known and loved by many, Gus will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He is predeceased by a sister, Michelle. He is survived by his beloved wife, Monique, with whom he was about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this summer. He is also survived by three daughters, Chantal Leblanc and husband Rick of Bonita Springs, Fl, Nancy Mikulanecz and husband Oren of Portland, and Deborah Currie and husband Michael of South Portland. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Alexandria McKinney, Erika and Britni Mikulanecz, and Bryan, Alicia, and Rachel Currie. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 5 - 9 PM at A.T. Hutchins, LLC Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Prayers will be recited on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 673 Stevens Avenue, Portland. Interment will follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland.
