Francis E. Bachelder December 9, 1950 January 16, 2015 Francis E. Bachelder, retired PFD Captain Francis E. Bachelder, of Portland, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015. Frank was born December 9, 1950 in Portland, ME to Robert T. and Theresa F. (Mancuso) Bachelder. He attended St. Dominic's and St. Patrick's Elementary Schools, graduated from Cheverus High School in 1969, and graduated from St. Anselm's College in 1973. During Frank's work career, he was employed by the Portland Police Department and the Portland Fire Department, from which he retired as a Captain in 2008. He also was a driving instructor for Bartley's Driving School and officiated at many sporting events throughout the state of Maine. Frank was a longtime member of St. Dominic's and St. Patrick's parishes. Frank was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching Bruins hockey games, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and seeing the variety of sporting events in which they were involved. Frank found his way to Tony's Donuts daily. Frank was predeceased by his grandparents, his father, his nephew Robert C. Bachelder and his sister-in-law Bonnie J. Bachelder.. Frank is survived by his mother, Theresa F. Bachelder; wife, Ann-Marie Bachelder; daughters, Hillary Damon, her husband Paul, and children Abigail, Jacoby, and Bronsen; and Emily Bachelder, and her children Giana and Danielle; sons, Francis M. Bachelder, and his son Francis M.C.; and Sean Bachelder; as well as step-children Gina and Anthony Fasulo; sisters Catherine (Bachelder) Marston and her husband Gary Kinsella; and Theresa (Bachelder) Turenne and her husband James; brother Robert T. Bachelder, Jr. and fiancé Mary DeRoche; brother-in-law David Wike and his wife Kimberly; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Portland Fire Department, especially members of Ladder 4 and Medcu 4, as well as the staff of Maine Medical Center and Gosnell Memorial Hospice Hospital. Visiting hours will be Monday, January 19, 2015 from 4pm-8pm at AT Hutchins, LLC Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland, ME. Prayers will be recited Tuesday, January 20, at 12:00pm, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland, ME, at 1:30pm and followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
