Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frances "Frannie" Robicheaw of Portland, Maine on Feb 17-2025. Frannie was born Nov 8, 1935 the fourth of six children to the late Edward and Josephine Geary. She spent her formative year watching over her sisters while growing up on Munjoy Hill in Portland; she embraced an immense family pride for her Irish heritage while sharing great respect for the descendants of other immigrants that made up the community of the "hill". After graduating from Cathedral High she began a career as an operator for the telephone company in Portland where friends convinced her to go on a date with Larry Robicheaw. Their relationship grew and blossomed, and the courtship led to a marriage filled with love, joy and blessings enriched by four beautiful children and eight wonderful grandchildren. Frannie devoted her life to her faith and her family as a homemaker until the children left the nest; she returned to the workforce at Service Merchandise where she enjoyed interacting with customers. She loved meeting people and would carry on conversations with strangers, leaving them feeling like they had made a friend. Annual trips to St. Maarten with Larry, and family outings to Scarborough Beach, the White mountains, and Sebago Lake were adventures that continue to live in loving family lore. Mom was a model of empathy and humanity who taught us to be kind and understanding, and to treat everyone as if they had been sent by God to offer guidance and wisdom. Look for the good in people and you just might find it. Her heart filled with pride when hosting holiday celebrations; her secret ingredient was the love she put into every meal she prepared for the family to enjoy. A glass of white wine while perfecting the elements of her many sauces and meals, and Barbara Streisand complementing her creative process is forever etched in our hearts. Holidays will never be the same again, but the memory of cheerful days gone by will be cherished for generations to come. The angel of Cedarhurst Lane has returned home to heaven to watch over us from afar; we find comfort knowing she is at peace in God's hands. Fourteen hearts and souls will continue to honor the legacy Mom and Dad created from their love and devotion. Frannie is survived by her children Theresa, Symalla of Windham, Cecilia Robicheaw of Portland, Julie Baughman of Portland, and John and Diana Robicheaw of Cape Elizabeth. Her grandchildren, Molly, Joshua, Matthew, Sam, Luke, Sarah, Christopher and Jessie were the crown jewels in a life filled with everything she ever hoped for. She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Josephine Geary, her 2 infant children Mary and Matthew, sisters MaryEllen Geary, Cecilia Conley, Theresa McGonagle, Patricia Carnel, and brother Edward Geary. There will be no visiting hours and a private mass will be held at a later date.
