Frances H. Bean May 8, 1929 February 26, 2012 Portland - Frances H. Bean passed away Sunday February 26, 2012 at the Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born May 8, 1929 in Portland, Maine the daughter of Joseph and Lillian Peters Gallant. Frances graduated from Portland High School and went to work for the Maine National Bank until she married her husband of 62 Years Frank G. Bean Jr. Together they moved to Falmouth and raised 5 children. Frances, or Franny, as she was known to her friends, went to work at Maine Medical Center in 1968 where she started as an ECG tech and soon became one of the first Cardiac Thoracic technicians in the cath lab. After retiring in 1993, Franny became a member, for many years, of the Friends of the Falmouth Memorial Library and for a time served as its president. She was also involved with the Women of the Rotary, Women's Literary Guild and the League of women voters. Frances was a Eucharistic minister at Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth. She also enjoyed playing in a bridge league with her friends. Frances developed an interested in gardening was a voracious reader and enjoyed a good mystery. The highlight of her life, along with their children, was their 10 grandchildren. She had a special relationship with each one and delighted in their lives. They brought her a great amount of joy. Frances was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Thomas Gallant, Joseph Gallant and her sister Elizabeth Cloutier. She is survived by her husband Frank G Bean Jr. and her children; Frank G Bean III his wife Joanne Bean of Scarborough, Nancy Begin of Bradford, Mass, Susan Mathews and her husband Donal Mathews of Falmouth, Laurie Lenzi her husband Marc Lenzi of Scarborough, Dianne Armishaw and her husband William Armishaw of Scarborough. Along with her Grandchildren: Thomas Begin, Nichlas Begin and his wife Jen, Michael Begin all of Bradford Mass, Kelsey Robitaille, her husband Jake of Saco, Jennifer Lenzi, Daniel Lenzi, Zachary Bean, William Armishaw, Victoria Armishaw, Samantha Armishaw, all of Scarborough. At Frances's request there will be no visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Holy Martyrs Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth.
