Ethel Taylor April 30, 1919 January 12, 2012 PORTLAND - Ethel Taylor, of Portland, passed from this life into the next on Thursday, January 12. Ethel was born in Portland on April 30, 1919 to Charles J and Elin Peterson Schumacher. She was a first generation American and attended Portland schools. She worked for 34 years at Burnham and Morrill, mostly in the payroll department; and she never missed a day of work. She enjoyed knitting and cooking for her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard V Taylor, Sr., as well as her six brothers: Charles, Edward, Harold, Walter, Kenneth, and Clifford; and her dearly beloved sister, Thelma Kennedy. Ethel was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a lady of grace and dignity. She is survived by her son, Richard V. Taylor, Jr. and his wife Lorraine Ann, of Scarborough. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cynthia Taylor of Portland; Deborah Kluckowski and her husband, Stephen, of Saratoga Springs, NY; Richard Taylor and his wife Caroline of Sebago Lake; Sean Taylor and his wife Barbara of Gorham; Kim Taylor of Providence, RI; Jon Taylor of Portland as well as step-grandchildren: Carolyn Raney and her husband John Paul of Portland and Joy Michaud and her husband Mike of Scarborough. Ethel was also greatly loved and will be dearly missed by Janice Taylor and her extended family as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 14 at the First Lutheran Church, 132 Auburn Street, Portland. A private burial will take place at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta in the spring. In lieu of flowers, Ethel requested that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
