Ethel Ruth Phillips July 25, 1932 July 5, 2013 South Portland- Ethel Ruth (Brady) Phillips, 80, of Landry Circle, passed away on July 5, 2013 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was born in Portland, a daughter of James and Evangeline (Murphy) Brady Norton. Ethel attended Portland schools. She married Anthony Phillips on May 18, 1958 and together they raised four daughters. She worked at Norge Village Laundromat and later at Pratt-Abbott Dry Cleaners, retiring in 1994. To keep herself busy, she did seamstress work for the correctional department in Windham as well as for friends, family and neighbors. She was pre-deceased by her husband in 1985, brothers, Richard Ward, Frank Brady, Mike (Sonny) Brady and William (Billy) Brady. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Poole of Long Key, FL, Cathy Phillips of Santa Ana, CA, Patty Phillips of Windham and Toni Bailey and her husband Colin of South Portland; 3 grandsons, James of Lewiston, Jason of Santa Ana, CA, Anthony of Boston, MA; 2 granddaughters, Jacqueline of Santa Ana, CA, Amanda of South Portland; sister, Rose Pierce and her husband Chester Sr. of Hiram and a brother, Fred Brady. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and her dog, Daisy. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Hospice of Southern Maine, Gosnell Memorial Hospice House and Ethel's home hospice team, Misty, Cindy, Lori & Mary for all their care and support. Visiting hours will be held from 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm on Monday, July 8, 2013 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland, where a funeral will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 9th. Burial will follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
