Ervin Arthur Osborne September 14, 1960 May 26, 2012 Westbrook - Ervin Arthur Osborne died May 26, 2012 in Portland, Me. He was born September 14, 1960 in Old Town, the son of Paul and Teruko Osborne of Milford, Maine. He graduated from Old Town High School and the University of Maine at Orono, in 1981, earning a BS in Engineering Technology and an AS in Business Management. He was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity. From his youth, Ervin enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with humor and song. He loved the outdoors, especially trips to Schoodic Point and Brooklin. He enjoyed karate and mixed martial arts. He was fascinated with how things worked and had a gift for fixing them. His passion for motorcycles and cars led to many years in the auto industry where he achieved the highest levels of certification as an auto technician and service manager, as well as being recognized for customer satisfaction. Ervin found his true calling when he became an adjunct instructor at Southern Maine Community College, then began teaching automotive technology at the Portland Arts & Technology High School. He became a highly respected teacher and mentored students to attain victories at Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills and Skills/USA Auto Skills Championships. During the summer of 2009, Ervin was an English language instructor at the Shinagawa School Dept., in Tokyo, Japan. While in Japan, he retraced his father's 1954 trek to the summit of Mt. Fuji. He is survived by his parents; his daughters, Jessica Osborne, of Bath, and Amanda Micucci and her husband Joseph, of Windham. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Osborne and her husband, David Eckert, of Old Town; Linda Bolin and her husband Ed and their son Kenneth, of Tennessee; Nancy Martinez and her husband, Alex of Maryland; his brothers, Efrem Osborne and his wife Elena Furman of Maryland; and Dr. Eric Osborne and his fiancé Amy Turner and their sons, Eric and Ethan Osborne, of Minot. The family wishes to thank the Special Care Unit of Maine Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland, Maine, on Friday, June 1, at 1:00 - 4:00 pm, with a memorial service at 3:30.
